The Road Less Traveled

Carol Baker Dawson and her husband, Ken Cruchfield, are literally “going that extra mile” on their way to the National Senior Games in Palo Alto, Calif.

The badminton players from Jeffersonville, Ind., are traveling in a RV from their hometown to the games in Palo Alto, Calif. That’s a 2,355 mile stretch for those of you taking the direct route. But they won’t be going direct.

The couple is spending a month on the road in their 2001 RV both before and after the games. Carol, who writes a newspaper column called “The Extra Milers,” is documenting the whole trip on their blog,
www.Extramilers.blogspot.com.

“We are so ready to kick this trip off and hit the road,” Carol said. “A dream trip, really...or at least we hope and pray it is!”

During the games, they’ll be camped at a parking lot in Pacifica. It’s about 30 miles from Palo Alto, but has the benefit of an ocean view.

How are you getting to the Senior Games? Are you going that extra mile?
